For those of you who have been following for a while, you’ll remember that Somewhere in Dreamworld is the long overdue full-length debut album that I’ve been slaving over for more than 8 years. Every now and then, I’ll upload a new demo of “Treadmill”, “Last Breath”, “Lovin’ Side of Me”, “Prove Myself” or “Somewhere in Dreamworld”, because I tend to favor those tracks as the “hits” (although, let’s be honest: ALL of my songs are hits!).
But now it’s time for something different! A demo of a song that no one has heard until now! “Left Behind”, which will be Track 3 on the final album. It was written in about 2004, when my family had to move from the middle of nowhere (good for loud music) to a townhouse in town (not good for loud music). Naturally, I didn’t want to go, but I didn’t want to stay, either.
The song was a later add to the album, replacing “Welcome To My World” as the third track. It has a hard-hitting first half that comes down into a soft instrumental, then slowly builds into an epic solo—one of my favorites—and finishes strong. The drums were recorded right after finishing the March to Midnight EP (listen for the busted cymbal), but the bass, guitar solos, and vocals were all just recorded in the last couple of days!
