Reverie
Lyrics
Chorus
I find it hard to get up out of bed
And lift my head
Because my dreams are always better
My dreams are always better now
Waking life got me going out full of dread
I’ll sleep instead
Because my dreams are always better
My dreams are always better now
That you’re gone
I can’t tell anymore
Whether it’s days or years gone by
I can see the clock is changing
But I can’t sense the change in time
How can I face the world
When every place is just a memory?
You’re everywhere, you’re everything
While I’m stuck in this reverie
(Chorus)
I can’t see into the future
But this one thing’s clear:
Every waking moment would be better
If you were still here
Chorus x2
My dreams are always better now
That you’re gone
Trivia
Along with “The Lone Wolf” this was one of the newest additions to the album. Both were written specifically to replace songs that were cut.
“Reverie” almost instantly became one of the most played and most requested songs from the record. When played live, the bridge section is extended so Bryce can chat with the audience and inspire some crowd participation.
The dictionary definition of reverie is “a state of being pleasantly lost in one’s thoughts; a daydream.” Choosing this word was a deliberate reference to both the album title and the artist pseudonym, Midnight Notion.
